Today I find myself amazed at the fact another Category 5 hurricane is working its way through the Caribbean. As I’m sure you’ve heard, Hurricane Maria is pounding Puerto Rico with high winds and extreme storm surge this morning.
Of course, this is after Harvey brought historic flooding to Houston and Irma devastated many other islands in the Caribbean.
Even with a month left in hurricane season it’s already pretty clear this year’s storms will go down in the record books. Sounds like climate scientists were right after all about the frequency of intense storms!
Since how we power our lives is unequivocally tied to the climate we live in, here are some interesting articles relating to the future of energy…
- Turns out Trump’s “clean coal” promise is just more hot air– The lone clean coal facility in the US was ordered to start burning natural gas– because clean coal is too expensive.
- Whenever you come across someone upset at all the subsidies governments dole out to the renewable energy industry, tell them it is pale in comparison to the amount the fossil fuel industry takes in.
- Coal is quickly losing ground in China, renewables rush in to fill the void.
- The holy grail of clean energy production just had a major breakthrough.
Let facts prevail…
